Any other thoughts on the book? We didn't end up talking about it much last night, I'd be quite interested in your (somewhat more objective) POV on some of the theories going around.
i wonder if this is gonna turn out to be a d&d thing - goodies surrounded and outnumbered by baddies but beat them cos of teamwork and trust (love)
speaking of d&d this situation is like dealing with a lich. *epiphany* voldimort IS a lich - raising the dead, coming back after being killed, evil magic leader of bad guys ect it all fits!!. These kids don't need wizards - they need priests!!! (turn undead)
yeah. the whole of fandom is pretty much agreed on that point.

OH THE SAP MAKE IT STOP.

Somehow I don't think JKR would agree, but it's a good thought.
Paul, for your own safety, I urge you to withdraw even that faint praise of the atrocity that was that movie. The handful of statements that the movie actually makes are diametrically opposed to the book.
Well, except for the whole Terra Uber Alles thing. I'll grant it that much. Speaking of, I just watched the Stargate premieres, and you'll be pleased to know that at this point, everyone is trembling before the might and fury of Earth. Four Wraith Hive ships get splashed before the Atlantis premiere is even half over.
Finally, re: Abraxis, the Harpy is ten days out. Be ready.
i disagree - the point of the book was to push the political message - the future state run by the military by people who have been in the Corps - which does come though in the movie
I disagree. The point of the book isn't to promote the state that exists (even though it is cool). It is to point out how crap 20th Century Democracys are. The movie has none of that.
that is two sides of the same coin- one face is 20th century democracys are crap and the other face is this is what we should replace it with. i imagine the history class scenes were cut for time. the book is the anwser to Churchill's dictum on democracy- here is a better system and a ghost of it is in the movie

You're obsessed with that line. You want to have its children or something.
