Half Blood Prince
I have just finished HBP
I am reminded of a line from Starship Troopers (the very good book rather than the bloody movie which still gets the point across)
The intro to said book tells of a raid on an alien planet by a power armoured unit. And, as they retreated one of them being hit and badly wounded. But they would not leave him behind so they stuffed up their meeting with the extraction shuttle bringing them out. It waited for them and its pilot did the impossible - calculated a new path to the mother ship by hand, on the fly. The line I am reminded of is the last in the introduction
"Dizzy died on the way up."
"Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys.
Look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death!"
