it sure was nice being back in madison today. went for sorta breakfast with lex at "in the company of theives". sophia's was closed. my omlette-loving heart cried out. i think they might be closed for the winter. i got a thieve's kiss which is basically an artichoke, garlic and cheese panini. it wasn't too bad. i also had an enormous glass of oj. there were like 4 sizes and i always feel like i dont get enough oj. so i got the biggest one. those thieves don't fuck around.
then i dropped off lex and went to misty for city champs year 2 part 3. it was lorwyn sealed. how painful. this time i got a retarded deck. how opportune. tons of removal, bunches of changelings so my cards actually worked, good mana. i went 4-0 pretty easy. city champs this year is kinda lame. i liked the weekly version last year. the only downside of last year to me was the scoring system for city champs points. this year you are only trying to get to be the t8 in your store which qs you for a sattelite tournament that qualifies you for a sattelite tournament for nationals. so yeah, as long as you are generally competent at magic it's more or less automatic that you q for sattelite number one. if you win one week you're in for sure.
it's not a huge deal to me what im qing for really. i just like playing magic on sundays. the downside is that the prize payout for the city champs tourneys are pretty bad. $25 sealed tourament with 22 players resulted in 22 packs in prizes. and some foils. zee spreads the prizes out pretty thickly. it was something like 1st 7 packs, 2nd 5 packs, 3rd 4 packs, 4th 3 packs, 5th 3 packs. i actually don't mind this because it actually lets 3rd-5th feel like they won something. jasper is the only one who really complains about that. just seems like there should be more prizes total.
then i came home. zee went to some soc. dinner so i made a bunch of pasta. played some wii tennis with noelle and kyle. then played by myself and earned pro ranking! then finished beating the original legend of zelda. (im the hero of hyrule!) i'll probably start the second quest sometime this week. maybe i should finish twilight princess first.
