Honestly, and this is not the snob talking, I was a little disappointed.
I read Drown when I was in Italy. I brought along Dubliners and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and decided it was a bit too dense to read at the beach, so I picked up the only book printed in English I hadn't read. I ended up loving it. At the bookstore, Louanne asked if I had ever read The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao and, although I said I hadn't because I hadn't, I made a mental note to pick it up next time I was at HPB. Yadda yadda yadda. Life happens, I put it off, I read other things, then I finally got around to picking it up and here we are.
The story was good, it just wasn't as intertwined and as moving as Drown.
