Saturday April 9 was CD101 Day. A large group of people met and our apartment, drank a lot, then walked over to the LC for the show.
I drank much vodka, so I left early, but I did catch
Civil Twilight - crappy
Deluka - crappy
Then I saw Ra Ra Riot. I love Ra Ra Riot. Meryl and I saw them at the Basement and I fell in love with them immediately. They are fun and sound great live. Love 'em.
Then I caught a song from Young The Giant and felt sick so I left. Unfortunately, I later listened to Fitz And The Tantrums and loved them, but I missed their entire set. It's okay though, I left and vomited on the way home. I wasn't that drunk, it was just really hot in the LC (we thought it would be an outside show because it was the first nice day of spring, but it ended up being inside) and there was no water anywhere. That and little high-schoolers were running around everywhere, which made me feel old, another reason to leave.
Anyway, for $5 I got what I paid for; I had to put up with some crappy acts in order to see a band I love only to leave before another entertaining band walked on the stage.

Fast forward 2 days to Monday April 11th, and you'll see Kaitlin and I standing next to each other in a crowd in front of a stage, able to see the back of Meryl's head, waiting for another show to start.
Megafaun was awesome. A 3-piece which isn't used to playing for a room full of sober hipsters, love 'em. They took advantage of our attentiveness and played a mic-less acoustic song, there was a sing-along, and a shit-load of banjo. Shit was good. I was hoping to go to Square Records today to get one of their CDs (they seem like a band SR would have), but I didn't want to fight the line only to not get anything for Record Store Day. I ended up going to the Belden Village Exchange only to find that all 3 items I was interested in were sold out. Stupid hippie record store employees.
After Megafaun played a killer set, the Mountain Goats came on and limp fished. I didn't like them at all. Kaitlin burned me one of their earlier albums a few weeks ago and I got pretty familiar with it and was looking forward to hearing a song or two, but they didn't play anything from that album at all. Understandably they played a lot from their latest album, but COME ON! Color In Your Cheeks is the shit and would have made the rest of their limp fish set bearable. It's all good though, I discovered the awesomeness of Megafaun.
