Ok, I've said this to about half a dozen people now, and they all profess absolute shock at this existence of a sub-genre of fanfic that's not limited to one fandom. NONE OF THEM BELIEVED ME.

Now, if someone could dissect the appeal for me, that'd be great. None of us could figure it out.
