so i'm finally back in the land of the living...or conway, arkansas that is. i arrived back in the states on wednesday night; spent yesterday catching up on rest, getting a new driver's license, and getting used to arkansas again. it's so wonderful to be home, and take advantage of all the conveniences. no more skanky apartment, no more gross bathroom with extremely small shower, no more not having a car, no more television with people saying things i can't understand. there are a lot things i miss about rome, like my friends, and the slew of activities, but all in all, i am extremely happy to be back. rome is the type of place where if you're planning on having a standard of living even remotely close to america, you need a lot of money--which isn't to say you NEED to live like an american, but it is definitely what i am accustomed to.
my plans for the summer are to work. since i really enjoy architecture, i don't mind the idea of working for a firm, and it gives me an excuse to live in fayetteville. i thought about trying to find a firm in little rock and living at home in conway, but i'd have to drive thirty minutes everyday, and there's the issue of not having any friends here, or any reliable ones anyway. i'm probably going to be living with my friend robert in his apartment. he has a really nice place near campus, and he's going to be gone during most of june, so i'll have the place to myself and still be paying a lot less as if both of us were there. i'm curious to see if fayetteville has changed any since last i was there. hopefully there'll be something new and exciting to experience; some new locales, some new boys, whatever, just something. that might be the only reason why i'd consider staying in little rock, because there'd be a ton of stuff to discover, but i guess i can always party it up there on the weekends.
i've experienced a little culture shock already since i've been back; the really hick accents, the low density of buildings, but i'm getting used to everything a lot quicker than i thought.
that's it for now
ciao bella
