Chocolate Cake

So Lol asked about a chocolate cake. And other people have asked in various vegan comms and I always have to search for it. At least now I am able to search through my email for replies to comments with the recipe. But it would be nice if I had it in an easier-to-access place, along with the frosting which I can never seem to find.
Nez and I made this cake a lot back in the day. Oh yeah baby. It's goood.

3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
6 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups water
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp vinegar
2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix dry ingredients first, then add wet and stir until lumps dissappear. Pour into 9x13'' pan. Bake 35-40 minutes.

I also use this frosting recipe (which seems richer than usual frostings. It's more like a ganache), which doesn't call for any kind of milk substitute.

Chocolate Frosting
1 c sugar
6 tbl corn starch
4 tbl cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbl oil
1 c water
1/2 tsp vanilla
Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cocoa in a medium sauce pan. Whisk in the water. Heat over medium until it gets thick and starts to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes. (Make sure you don’t boil too long, or it will set like taffy.) Remove from heat and stir in oil and vanilla. Cool and spread on cooled cake. Enjoy!

This frosting recipe I usually halve because in my opinion it makes far too much. But I guess it depends on how much you like. (also it's good just to eat off a spoon or even as a chocolate spread on bread, if you find you have excess).
