The 2008 Alamos chardonnay from Mendoza, Argentina is ten dollars where I live, and at that price it is a great deal for a stupid person. I drank a bottle of it for Stupid Friday yesterday and found it to be pretty weak but suitable. Barbasol is an old brand of shave-cream-in-a-can, and represents this with an old-fashioned label design of red and white barbershop style stripes. There is a green and white version, I think those ones are menthols. Over the past two days I have been drinking from a bottle of Columbia Crest Merlot of the (I believe) 2008 vintage, but since then I’ve lost the bottle. I haven’t mastered my palette yet so I can’t report much more than that it tasted like a very soft and muted (almost green-y) Merlot-ish wine.
