With a hat full of feathers and a wicked grin

Updates about job and living situation. I'll tell the most annoying things first... Wells Fargo pushed back my start date to a week from today (next Wednesday). They're not ready to start training people in yet, and apparently I'd be "doing a lot of sitting around and shadowing people" if I started tomorrow or Friday. All of that would of course be fine by me.... but I guess Wells Fargo is trying to be "cost effective" as well as assy. Sigh.... The girl on the phone from the temp agency finished her spiel with "at least the job's not canceled!" at which I freaked out and asked "is that a possibility?" and she said of course not, she just likes to look at the bright side. Not helpful missy!

The house has been fine. It's kind of dirty, it smells like cigarette smoke, and many things are broken, but it's also cheap and my roommates are great so far. One of them even went to high school with my cousin! The girl in my room now is the younger sister of one of the other roommates and everyone (including her older sister) is looking forward to her departure. She sounds like a really shitty person... she has the sweetest cat ever named Waffles who she has never neutered. She doesn't buy litter or food for her cat. And the worst parts are that she WORKS AT PETCO AND GETS A DISCOUNT and is currently IN SCHOOL TO BE A VET TECH. Oh humans. Fun fact: Waffles has herpes in her eye. (Not  contagious to humans, I looked it up). I'm also glad that she isn't here that often. The roommates tell me that she only sleeps here about once a week and only comes home to shower. Which makes me wonder..... why can't I move in then? I've run into her once so far and she seems like your typical 18-year-old-trying-to-be-like-the-cool-older-kids. All the bedrooms are upstairs, and I currently sleep on the fold-out couch downstairs. It's definitely not been as awkward as I thought it would be, the roommates seem genuinely glad I'm here. And I really respect them for taking good care of their animals and Waffles, who isn't event theirs. They buy her food and litter and had a party at their house to raise money for her neutering costs.

Last night I went to a Minnesota Rollregirls practice. They invited recruits along just so they could see how things worked. To sum it up, I'm more excited than ever to try out!  I posted something on the recruits message board about car pooling/bus riding, and managed to get a ride with one of the Atomic Bombshells, Mae Gusta, who lives 4 blocks away from me. She was really awesome, and I asked her millions of questions on the way there. I was nervous that the MN team might be as sucky, diva-y and drama-y as the Iowa team was, but everyone was joking around and seemed really great. There were a few other recruits there, and throughout the practice girls would come by to answer our questions, which were mostly about gear and partly about the tryouts themselves. Apparently I have to go jog thrice a day and do 500 pushups and hour because my endurance sucks and at tryouts that is about as important as knowing how to skate. Shit. But I got some cheap Kmart running shoes today so I'm ready to go...
