MediaWest so far...
Friday we took the opportunity to sleep in a bit and generally take our time in the morning getting registered. Was interesting this year. We got to the reg line after breakfast so around 11 ish.. and they had us sit in chairs that are usually there for the annual waiting in the reg line ritual. They came to us.. got our names... then brought our badge to us. Was quick, but different. :)
They only have the con book this year and not the handy dandy separate reg print out paper. So we hilighted what we wanted to see in the program book. Next year definitely print out the reg sheet from the program suggestions group. :)
Went to an obscure "I thought I was the only one who knew about it" type panel for fandoms that no one else has heard of. Was a lot of fun with people naming things and other people going OOh! i loved that! :) I had a couple people know what WENN was! (We've had that a few times this con.. maybe we'll actually get more than just the two of us in our WENN panel. That would be much fun!
There was a fairly decent vid show this year.. all total probably about 3 hours. A couple hours of Gen and another hour of slash. There were a couple really amazing Star Trek videos.. one to a song about You can go home again... (I can't remember the exact name of the song) It started with Classic Trek and blended into New Trek, then mixed them together. Was a gorgeous vid that actually had me a little choked up! I'm such a Trekkie. :-)
After the vid show, we went back to the room and watched some Glee musical numbers, and a couple White Collar vids. I'm certainly going to have to check out Glee. Anyway.. Around 1 we finally had to hit the sack because we had a busy panel day today that started at 10AM!
Today.. Saturday... we went to a Children's Lit panel that was a lot of fun. I did my Dark Fanfic panel that was interesting. It kinda was more of a what's the difference between dark fanfic and traditional hurt/comfort. We seemed to come to a thought that Dark fanfic had an interesting psychological aspect to it and that the character is left scarred somehow in the end. Rather than sunshine and roses and just as perfect as they started out.
My Small Fandoms panel was also interesting in that it was another Oohh. yeah, I know that show... :) And added the element of whether or not the show is findable on DVD.
Then at 5 we did our Kink panel and it was so much fun! We're definitely going to have to do it next year! The hour went by so fast, and no one wanted to leave! I wish we could have taken it elsewhere. But I do have one thing to say... LItter. ;) (Was a discussion on Mpreg and that hysterically came up.)
Now we're doing our annual hanging out in the atrium and watching videos ... as soon as the guy finishes vacuuming. :) On tap for tonight.. Wyatt/Adora storyline, Glee, White Collar, Better of Ted, Melinda's M*A*S*H ep and L&O ep and some WENN. Ahh... I love a good con. :)
