Damn joints...

I finally convinced myself to try a 1K on the erg this morning. I did pretty well...a 2:02.9 spit! I think it was the copious amount of jelly bellies I ate after I got home last night (at 11:30pm). Then I did an easier 10 min, followed by 10 min that I was able to maintain at 2:09.3...which dropped to 2:09.1 when I maxed myself out for the last ( Read more... )

Joints can suck. (Especially the TMJ ;) ). I can recommend a good wrist guard if you need one--I think its made by Futuro and kind of reminds me of a Michael Jackson glove (only its orange and shiny). Its great for stabilizing the hand. I haven't had to wear it in awhile but when I get carried away with knitting, or when I foolishly write instead of type my finals, its a life saver.

Also, if you ever want recommendations for natural deodorants, I'm your person. I've done eons of research/product testing on this and have found a few that really work for me (I haven't bought a deodorant with aluminum in years). Most of them don't help with sweat though, just bacteria growth/odor (except sometimes the ones with baking soda) so it might not be what you need.

actually, I kind of want to know about this. I just buy Mitchum because it's what I was used to, but wouldn't mind trying something a little less... well, less.

I avoid aluminum for a number of reasons: Its a neurotoxin, and there may be a link between it and alzheimers. Rumors link it to breast cancer (not confirmed yet though) and it also sometimes irritates people with sensitive skin. Plus, there are natural alternatives that just aren't as sketchy ( ... )

I'm not knocking the crystal if it works for you, and it is probably a good idea to only use the strength of deodorant/antiperspirant you need, but I really can't stand this kind of "propaganda"...for lack of a better term.

Crystal Body Deodorants contain no...chemicals

That's a trick. (Okay, fine...salts are held together by ionic bonds, so you could argue they're not a covalently bonded chemical, but the same is true for aluminum salts.)

Most deodorants on the market are made of chemicals formulated in laboratories - non-natural, unhealthy chemicals that can be very harsh to your system.I'm not going to argue the "harsh" part with particular respect to common deodorants vs the crystal...it's probably true. But the general idea, which I hear all the time, that just because something is made in a lab, it must be more unhealthy than something found in natural sources really irks me. There is no intrinsic difference between chemicals synthesized in a lab and chemicals synthesized either in organisms or by other natural processes ( ... )

Hey, you were warned. ;-P

I always wipe the machines down (not that I ever actually sweat on anything, except for a little palm sweat on the handle...did you actually read what I wrote?). I'm also the only person who ever cleans the grit of the damn tracks. Grrr...

Just a note about the sweating issue, I had it too...so bad, in fact, that I use a prescription strength version of that "night before" stuff you tried. Mine works SO WELL. I use it once a week at night and use my regular stuff every day...and I never sweat. Ever. For 20 years I couldn't wear light colored shirts, but now it's not even an issue. In case you're interested, it's called Drysol. It's prescription only, but you can get it on the internet from Canada...

The Secret I bought is "prescription strength", and it seems to be doing the trick. ;-)

So, it's not just me? I feel better. :-)
