After seeing how pretty Clearwater Bay Country Park is, I decided to show Seong and since Yuyuan's family is also in Hong Kong, I decided to make it into a family excursion. We went for a quick local breakfast at my favourite Cha Chaan Teng at Happy Valley first -- Cheung Hing Coffee Shop. I love their chaan dan bo lou bao (餐蛋菠萝包)and so does Ashley!
I am glad the Lim family love the bo lou bao too!
After breakfast, Seong drove all of us to the Clearwater Bay Country Park. We set the GPS to Tai Hang Tun (end of Clearwater Bay Road) as there is a parking area there.
Clear Water Bay Country Park is a rural country park located in the New Territories of eastern Hong Kong.
I like that there are these little wooden insects.
Again, I showed them the kite flying site and the pavilion where one could get a spectacular view of the surrounding moutains and water.
Love the sprawling area, there were a few people flying their kites here.
Ashley and Seychelles were attracted by the bubbles.
I love that we were out to make the best of the cool weather and beauiful outdoor.
After a while, Seagate was getting restless and wanted to start on the trail proper.
This is a short walk measuring 1.2km in length and has 12 interpretation plates with information on various plants like Chinese Hackberry, Laurel Sweet Leaf and Schima.
It was a pretty straight forward path and we just let the kids led us, the first part of the hike felt like we were walking into a forest.
I was quite impressed that Ashley could still remember that this is the paper bark tree and was sharing with the rest that the bark feels like paper and that's how the name is derived.
After passing through the luxuriant trees, we got to the open section in the middle of the Tree Walk where there is the open vistas of the water and Clearwater Peninsular.
We met Angus, a Scottish Labrador who's 11 years old.
The last part of the trail was a flight of steps up to the kite flying area.
It was a nice walk and we finished it in 1/2 an hour. After which, the kids each had an ice-cream from the kiosk and we went on to have lunch at Pizza Express.
