Lung Har Wan in reverse - 2nd time round

Apr 11, 2017 22:27

Today, I did Lung Har Wan again.  I remember it was a short and scenic trail, one that filled me with adrenalin the first time I did it.  Well the scenery, even though it's rather humid and foggy today, still awed me.  Just the day before, San was sending out this video clip asking everyone when that particular filming location was.  It was a pavilion surrounded by rolling mountains and there was a conical  shaped trig station near the pavilion.  Even our most seasoned hiker Juniper was bewildered.  How do you find out where is this one particular place just based on a video clip?  Even though the trig station has a rather unusual shape, it's still tough to figure out which one is it out of the 238 trig stations in Hong Kong.  We even resort to showing the driver and asking if he can identify the place, but in vain.

But, what serendipity, we actually not only found the exact location today!!!  It was just a stone throw from the start of our trail.  A visit to the food kiosk and YH spotted a picture outside the kiosk that bears similarity to the place San mentioned.  Upon enquiring, we realised it was just further down.  We were euphoric.

Walking down from the food kiosk, I began to notice how big and open this part of Clearwater Bay Country Park is.

There is even a kite flying site!

There are remnants of colourful kites caught on the trees.

This is the exact same mysterious site that San was looking for!!!  How coincidental can it be?

A conical shaped trig station, too bad Juniper missed this one!

The happy hikers.

This is actually a very pretty place where one could come for a walk or picnic.  In fact if weather is cool, it's a perfect place for family to take a walk and explore the park.  There are many interesting trees and butterflies too.

A board displaying names of the surrounding mountains and islands.

Interesting insects paintings on the tiled pavement.

After the initial excitement, we went on for the trail proper.  This time I paid extra attention to the trail start.  It was actually near the Tai Hang Tun carpark.

It was just steps and more steps, and even more steps up at the initial part of the trail.

As we climbed higher and looked back, we could spot the Clearwater beach, the pavilion where we came from, Clearwater Golf Course, Tai Hang Tun carpark...

Somewhere midway of our climb, there is this rock which was where we took some photos on our last hike too.

It was a very humid day and we were all just dripping wet with perspiration.  Nonetheless, there was no lack of laughter and merriment along the way.

I remembered Selena was exclaiming in disbelief as she saw the winding trek ahead "Are you sure this route is only 2.4km?  How can it be?  It's so long? ...."  :PP

And we found another trig station at the top.

Saipoh remembered this as the spot where we took the group photo previously.  It was amidst a spectacular backdrop which unfortunately, was just a whole piece of fog today.

Towards the Po Toi O side, we could still get a good view of the clear slightly greener water and the village.

The area dotted with small fishing boats should be Po Toi O I guess.

Another scenic point call for a group photo and of course, Selena was having that "you all are so incredulous" half-amused look after seeing the 101 photos we snapped along the way.

Same spot, 2 group photos, 7 solos ... you see how it adds up.  :D

And when there's passerby and a vantage point, we never failed to make him/ her our photographer.  "P

Heading down to Clearwater Bay Equestrian and Education Centre.

And this is what we came upon, we had done the Lung Ha Wan trail in reverse but I prefer this way really.

After the hike, we all went back to Causeway Bay but split up for lunch.  I met Andrea at Jardine Centre and treated her to a nice Japanese lunch at Tenzen.  She was a little listless at first but I was glad the fresh sushi and hot udon managed to revitalise her and nurse her to the old cheery self.  So good to have a child who loves food!

For the evening, Yuyuan was here in Hong Kong so I brought Ashley to meet her and Seagate for dinner.  The two kids were exchanging riddles and jokes and we all had an enjoyable evening.

It was yet another day well spent!
