Last evening, our Indian neighbour downstairs invited the girls to take part in their kolam painting. The girls were thrilled by the invitation. So at 9pm, we walked down to the neighbour's house. Aunty VG had already placed all the coloured powder outside the house.
.
VG was sharing that these powder is usually sold in batch of 12 packs of varying colours. She later mixed the colour with some rice powder.
She went on to draw a pair of peacocks with such ease and grace that we all went "Wow!" :P
She then guide the girls on what colour to use to fill each part of the peacock. It's a little like sand art where you are to dribble the coloured powder to fill up the area to be coloured.

The finished peacock. This is before Aunty VG did any touch up. "P
This was after Aunty VG did the final touch up and added in the eyes for the peacocks.
I was grateful to have our dear neighbour who shares their tradtition with us. In a way, it was time like this that we got to chat and catch up on each other. On normal days, it's really just "hi" and "bye" as we each rushed to do our errands.

We took a drive down Little India and the traffic was a little crazy but the light up was very nice.
