Ooh, now this is great! I'm getting totally nostalgic.

I agree with you, Becoming Part I and II should definitely be there. For Buffy, I'd definitely add Amends. For Angel, I'd add Sanctuary and Origin (mind you, I love the Pylea episodes too).

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, Origin went through my mind too. Connor's parting words to Angel, and Angel's face.... AND, the fact that Wes remembered what he had done. I always thought it was unfair that Angel was the only one burdened with that truth.

God, thanks for posting this. I agree with you - I think "Becoming" should definitely be on the list.

I've always thought "Innocence" was such a great turning point for the universe, and for DB/Angel in particular. Having doing a serious rewatch of the first couple of seasons for the first time in a few years, I can't believe how must BETTER DB gets when he's really got something to do with Angel's character. Before "Innocence," it was all, "Oh, hi. I'm hot and broody and mysterious and I sort of follow you around a lot." After, he was so much more interesting. This may be influenced by seeing his work on Bones, but it really feels like DB was phoning it in until his character took that turn.

I'd also include "Tablua Rasa" and "The Yoko Factor" because both bring the funny and the pain, and "Fool for Love" because of the absolutely intense level of Spike's pitiful on full display.

I completely agree, and I don't think it has anything to do with Bones. To me, you can actually mark DB's growth as an actor throughout the years, and it wasn't until Season 2 of Angel that he really hit his stride. You can definitely pinpoint the beginning of that growth with "Innocence". Playing Angelus gave him something so delicious to sink his teeth into, and you can tell he relished it. I think it really gave him the opportunity to do whatever he wanted without restraint, and helped him find himself as an actor.

That said, I still hate that stupid curse :P

OMG, I forgot about "Fool for Love". You're so right, Spike is never more pitiful, or more inexplicably sympathetic. That was the first episode that really delved into how much he truly understands the darkness in Buffy, in a way that no one else can.

Hehe, he has the proportionate excitability for a puppet his size :P And he *still* managed to kick Spike's ass.

I couldn't agree with you more about Smile Time.

I mean an Angel Muppet is the cutest toy ever, not to mention it has some of the funniest / most awkward (yet charming and endearing) moments in television.

And don't even get me started about IWRY. Let's just say that "beautiful heartwrenchingness" as you say, is the perfect way to describe the state my heart is in whenever I re-watch it.

And hold the phone. You have Bones/BTVS/Angel crossovers!?!

How have I missed this?

*makes note to come back and read fics later*

LOL, "Smile Time" sounds like the cheesiest, silliest idea, but you watch it, and it just comes out brilliant. Joss did that with "Once More With Feeling", too. The man just has the Midas touch.

And GUH-- I can't even talk about IWRY. The happier Joss made us, the more he tortured us later, and nothing rips my heart out quite like that episode.

You must read the crossoverness! It's almost crack!fic, but will hopefully make you LOLZ. Can't wait to hear your thoughts! :)

Edited because you beat me to the punch and already R&Red. You rock!
