I'd just like to take the time to make a statement about how insane the local government is at this very time. A year ago, a local development company, one who is responsible for a park being where a tower is, proposed a new tower here in Lexington, KY. In order for this new tower to be built, they didn't take this empty land that essentially is a few benches for homeless people to sleep on with some water fountains, they took one of the few blocks downtown that made money, and demolished it. When they did so, they took a chunk of Lexington culture with it.
Now, here it is a year later, there is nothing but a hole in the ground where there used to be a great piece of society. They have now replied to many inquiries and stated they don't believe that the project could be finished by the 2010 Equestrian games as planned and also, J.W. Marriott has come to agreements on the project, but they haven't signed a contract. Also, the goal was to see 91 condos at about $1,000,000 a piece. They've not sold one.
So really, at this time, I say Fuck You Lexington! Also, fuck the Webb's!
I'm also pretty sure, with our mayor scuttlin' back and forth to DC, he uses eminent domain and stimulus money to build some new government structure... Since the city has talked about a two "tower" complex of 13 story buildings for our local bus system (which can't even pay to operate it's current location) I'm sure that's what goes in. Ugh.
