Merlin and Arthur's Room, A Hotel in Vancouver, Monday Evening

Aug 11, 2009 05:43

On the upside, Arthur didn't know enough about local standards to recognise that the hotel they were in was not of the best quality available. That meant that everyone present was at least spared that amount of thrown fits or whining or irrationality of any stripe ( Read more... )

"Arthur, they're not servants like back home."

Arthur put the phone to his chest for a moment so no one could overhear - he'd learned that trick. "Then they shouldn't advertise being able to get us everything," he said.

"Just ask them for the food and I'll take care of your bloody shoes." Merlin was about to smother himself on the bed now.

"They have a shoe service," Arthur noted. He had no idea what 'shoe service' meant, but he had shoes. "It's hardly my fault they're going back on their word."

Sigh, Arthur.

"I'm not exactly certain it means the same as you think."

Not that he knew what it meant...

Arthur rolled his eyes expressively. He held up the phone. "Nevermind the shoes. Just get me a bottle of the most expensive non-alcoholic drink you serve, and shut up about it."

He clicked off the phone without bothering to say goodbye, then hurled himself at the bed. "They'd best be quick."

Or they'd spit in the food. One of those two!

Merlin rolled his eyes and flopped back on the bed. "Canada isn't that different from Fandom."

Please. He was going to tip them very, very handsomely, and that would make them shut up. He wasn't a monster.

"Nothing's rained from the sky so far," Arthur told him, stretching out to take up as much space of the bed as he could. "Or turned us funny. I'd say that's an improvement."

Merlin snorted and rolled his eyes. "I meant all the things."

"It says there's movies on the television," Arthur said, helpfully. "I'm surprised you haven't helped yourself yet."

Yes, Arthur, add movies on demand to your running tab. There were days about a thousand years' worth of inflation was a very, very good thing.

"...we can just watch them at will? What about needing a DVD?"

Arthur waved vaguely in the direction of the card... thing... that sat on the desk. "It says that all you have to do is use the remote... thing."

Pulling the remote to himself without doing anything silly as sitting up or going near it, Merlin tried figuring out which buttons worked. "They have an entire channel dedicated to food, did you know that?"

"No, but now I do," he said, propping himself up against the headboard. "You know, these beds are very comfortable. What kind of food?"

"I'm not sure, but they do all seem to rather enjoy butter."

He watched a lot of Paula Deen. Oooo! Something about cakes!

"Butter," Arthur said, and shot him a dubious look. "You're watching television about butter."
