Running my fingers through my hair I stared out the window over looking the city. Sighing in distaste and crossing my arms over my chest I turn around, looking over the office.
Nothing looks unusual to the naked eye: big expensive desk, big boardroom table, over sized leather chairs, a stocked bar for clients if they want drinks - and they always do. Everything looks fine and normal for a law office, right down to the staplers and business cards on the desk.
But there are things here that don’t fit, I know there are. I can tell. Special Wolfram and Hart tempered glass, keeps vampires from getting extra crispy from the sun. And that forsaken office plate that I want to hurl across the room every time I see it.
Angel
He doesn’t belong here, I still don’t understand why the partners wanted him here. Then again Daddy doesn’t tell me everything, he’s always telling me that I’m too young and I need to learn. I’m over - ok just over - a century old, I’m an immortal. I have a right to know these things. I need to know everything especially if I’m supposed to keep everything working smoothly.
Then again what Daddy and the other partners don’t know won’t hurt them - or me for that matter - right? Exactly. I have my own schemes planned for this firm and the Partners. When the Partners created me they gave me one flaw: stupid human free will; that gives me the ability of my own thoughts and actions. Add that in with the knowledge and ambition I have, that all adds up to big trouble.
Big trouble hides in my five foot six petit frame…without heels.
Shaking my head I walk over to the bar in the office and pour myself a drink, downing it in one swallow and putting the glass back without a care. I look around the office again. “He so doesn’t deserve this office.” I muttered to myself, hoping that nobody was ease dropping. Then again they always were in this office. “He didn’t work hard for it. He didn’t work at all for it. If anything he did everything in his power to work against it.”
I made my way over to the couch and sat down with a huff, crossing my arms over my chest again and waited for Harmony to come back with the files I asked for. Why do I have a feeling sending that no-whit leashed vampire to get those files was a very bad idea? Most likely because it was. When will I ever learn that it’s better to do things for yourself and get it right the first time?
Nah, it’ll just give me an excuse to give her hell later. I love being the one that nobody suspects when things go bad. I’m just the liaison according to them. A pee-on so to speak. That’s ok, let them think that.
I just hope that Cordelia chick didn’t have a wake-up vision about me, which would really suck. Not to mention put a major kink in my plans. The partners didn’t even know about my plans, I sure as hell didn’t need The Powers That Be Pains in My Ass knowing them either.
I almost have everything in place. Those goodies from Sunnydale are scattered, be it my luck that slayer and her sister picked LA of all places to settle down. Damn, why didn’t she stay dead? How many times does she need to die, I mean really. Once isn’t enough apparently.
But she doesn’t matter, I have bigger fish to fry and essential fish to get into the pan.
Essential fish like one on the run lawyer named Lindsey McDonald.
Yes, I must be crazy to go behind the Partners and bring him in. I’m not crazy, I’m very well thought. He is the only human to get away from the partners and knows this firm better then anyone in over three centuries, well and live to tell about it.
Not to mention he despises Angel and his band of goodies as much as anyone. Who better to help me kick the throne out from under Angel’s feet then the man who made his life hell for over two years?
It’s been a damn pain in the ass to get a hold of him, it’s even harder to do when trying to hide from the Partners as well. Knowing him he’s the one that took the book of Senior Partner’s when he left the firm. The Partners are still up in arms about it. Especially when that book contains vital information about the partners.
I sighed in frustration - I seemed to be doing that a lot now that these wanna be goodie-goodie freaks took over this firm. This place needs to be run by evil hands, not by these goodies with their coddling gloves, hoping to change evil by being on the inside.
That’s just stupid.
Speaking of stupid, I’ve been told we have fresh meat coming to the firm. Something about her being special. Yeah, real special I bet. They said that about our new CEO, now where is he? No where to be found.
Standing up I adjust my skirt and head out to the lobby, my heels clicking on the hard wood floor. I can’t wait to see what’s so special about this one.
