quick one ...

Okay, so apparently I am bad at keeping resolutions. So much for this whole writing a couple times a week ... yikes, its been over a week, and on top of that, I have to leave in 15 minutes so I will only make this a short one.

So, part of the reason why I haven't been writing is because I have been out of town. I spent 9 days in Calgary, which were great for all the normal reasons, but also kind of crappy because I had too much work to do --- I had 60 odd papers to mark and a conference paper to write. I spent way way way too many hours in the computer room (which also doubled as my bedroom, mostly because I didn't want to sleep in the basement). After that, I spent 5 days in Toronto - for my Israel conference, but then I tacked on an extra couple days to hang out and see the city (and our friend Sabina was coming, and it was important that I see her).

Just in point form, there are a few things that have been on my mind recently:

1. I am feeling frustrated because I haven't been able to work to capacity in the last few weeks (and I dare say, the last few months!) I want to start having 80-90% efficiency days instead of 50-60% days. Which means a couple things, first, I need to stop working at home and second, I need to have a schedule. I figure that since today is Sunday, I can make a resolution starting tomorrow, that I am going to start tomorrow --- like everyone else in the working world, I am going to have a 5 day work week and get my stuff DONE! This month the plan is to work on a conference paper for month end and study for the comprehensive re-write on the 25th.

2. I was looking for apartments in Toronto as part of my procrastination, and I realise that its super expenisive to live there. I mean, I do believe that if you want something bad enough, I will work at it - but my sources of income for the summer are a little bit undependendable, which is not good. The Foreign Policy class that I was going to teach in July might get canceled because there are a bunch of graduate students that want to take it, but I am not qualified to teach grads - so I need more undergrads to sign up! Come on kids! Frank has some research for me this summer, so lets see how many hours he has in mind. Otherwise, I will have to become a little creative, and possibly instead of just doing dissertation research next year, I might have to teach/RA during the year - which could hold some promise.

Anyways, time's up, so all those other things I was going to talk about have to wait until next time. In the meantime, for those of you that love village-India, bhojpuri is so awesome (and reminds me of Fiji): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiE3Q_UHxB8
