Mar 14, 2011 12:02

Hello hello everyone! If you've taken a look at your calendar, you'll notice that today is March 14th. That would be 3/14. Or, if you could fancy, 3.14. For those mathematically inclined, that would line today up with the mathematical term 3.14, or 'Pi'. Hence, that would make today 'Pie Day'!

And in response to national Pie Day, I bring you:

[Who am I to resist?

Holmes is just kind of staring at her from across this...metaphorical room.]

[She glides over, stepping lightly in a slow waltz across the metaphorical room. (Watch out for the occasional table with pie on it?)]

It is not polite to stare, dear. Nor to let a lady dance alone. [She holds out her hand invitingly.]

[Instinctively, he takes the hand, though from his body language you can tell that he has no intention of dancing.]

What brought this on?

XD No worries! missthewoman March 16 2011, 00:29:18 UTC
[She reads the body language clearly, but cannot stop dancing. So she pulls him towards her and continues stepping along with the music in her mind. She rather hopes she will not have to start leading him in a dance just to get a partner.]

Uncertain, although I must say the rhubarb pie was divine. But never mind that, just dance with me.

[It's not as if Holmes doesn't know how to dance, it's more that he doesn't choose to engage in the activity-- so his movements are somewhat stiff, hesitant as he moves with her after a few lagging steps.]

This is rather ridiculous.

You're right.
There is no music!

[So she starts singing, soft and low. (A little something along these lines.)
Better?]

[Holmes knows that Irene is a good singer, and he hasn't heard her in a while-- so the singing actually effectively shuts him up, though he rolls his eyes subtly as he continues to dance with her.]

[Rolling-of-the-eyes is a essential Holmes trait, isn't it.

Singing unfortunately makes it impossible for small talk, but for now she is just honestly pleased - and slightly amused - that Holmes is dancing with her. And her smile to him clearly communicates it.]

[He sees her smile and immediately averts his gaze, but the fact that he's still dancing is a good sign-- but he does keep an eye out for his pockets lest she be going for them.]

[She knew you would be concerned for your pockets. Meaning of course the challenge of picking them had crossed her mind.

Maybe something with a quicker tempo now.]

[That's not a dance that she recognizes at all, but she tries to dance along to the beat.

...Thing is, dawn is kinda far away, and she's only human. *phew*]

You're a very good dancer, young man.
