Goodness, this week, & especially this day, has just been a rollercoaster. Of course, that may be because I haven't taken my anti-depressent in a few days, too...
Background...I got a job as a nurse. The past 3 weeks I was traning on 1st shift, so my friend L or one of her daughters would watch Youngest, then pick Oldest up from school. Meanwhile Daughter, who goes to a different school than Oldest, walked down to another friend's house. This was all well & good, but this week I had to train on 2nd shift. I didn't think this was much of a big deal, but that was my (big) mistake. So I guess it starts on Friday. Oldest had told Schmuck that he got into a fight after school. This was news to me. Nothing much happened because Oldest tripped the other kid & put him in the dirt a few times before the bully ran away. Pwned! But we were both concerned, so Schmuck decided to talk to the teacher Monday AM. Ok, I didn't think much of it. Monday I get to work at 1:50. I had not heard from Schmuck & so was expecting L's daughter to pick up Oldest. Instead, she calls me panicking at 3pm saying Oldest was nowhere to be found. I was about pissing my pants, but I called Schmuck to see if he'd gotten Oldest. Sure enough, he had. He had called me on my cell, but I hadn't answered it. He'd left a message saying he was picking up Oldest if it was ok. Since he hadn't heard from me, he just assumed it was ok. So when he asked where I was, & I told him work, he flipped the fuck out. Well, I can understand. I should have told him. My bad. But one thing with him is that even if I admit I'm wrong, its not good enough. He still has to punish me. He's an asshole. But whatever.
I got out of work at 10 pm that PM & went to get the kids. They were asleep, so they stayed with Schmuck. That was fine. But he decided to pick a fight with me, calling me names, trying to score points off me, etc. Finally he said "who picked up the kids Friday?" I said "I did." He said o-O? I said "yeah, I picked Oldest up from L's & Daughter up from Other house." He said "well, you lied to me just then. You didn't pick them up from school." I said "I did not lie. You never asked where I picked them up from." Oooo did he get pissed. Secret heehee, I must admit. Shortly after that, he stormed away from me. Sigh... Then he sent a nasty email. Nothing I didn't expect. But we have calmed down quite a bit, & I'm off today, so its cool.
However the reason I'm off today is a bit aggravating in itself. As I said above, I was supposed to be training all this week on 2nd shift, from 2-10 pm in the one building. Well, I got to work yesterday, was helping with the 2 pm med pass, getting things set up for 4 pm, when there's a call from the supervisor of the other building. She says to my boss (the head nurse, btw) " I see Jen's on the schedule to be down here by herself this PM. Is that gonna be ok?" Both my boss & I were very surprised. WTF?? I had set foot in that building about 5 times & knew most of the residents, but not all of them. And I had no idea how they did things. However, if I didn't go, they'd have no one, so I gathered my lunch & purse & off I trotted. The 1st shift girl, who is only a med tech, gave me a fast crash course in what I needed to do that evening, & within 1/2 an hour, I was off on a shopping trip with 3 of the residents. Eeek! I was kinda shook up, but it really wasn't that bad. There was a note on the schedule that I have training next week (!!) with the other nurse down there, then "on her own after 10-12." Um, excuse me, I'm on my own tonight with absolutely no training! So STFU. And I have to work this weekend by myself. So GTFO. I called my boss today & she asked if I could come in today to train, instead of next week. I told her today is Youngest's birthday, & since I just found out yesterday I'm gonna miss his birthday party on Sunday cuz I have to work, I'd really rather stay home. She was very understanding. I may do some training tomorrow though.
I gotta say I'm a bit aggravated. I knew it'd be every other weekend & one PM a week, but still...to have it sprung on me like this kinda ticks me off. I'm tempted to start sending out resumes again. We'll see.
Last but not least, I'd been having a bird, dog, cat, etc because everyone in my class had received their authorization to test letter for the state boards, & I hadn't yet. Well, today, it occured to me to check the email account with the more professional sounding name, & sure enough, there it was, sitting there as an email attachment. It'd been there almost a month. Eeeeek!!!!!! So I printed it out & went ahead & scheduled my test. So please send good thinking/reasoning/luck vibes my way. I'll be needing them.
Oh,& that's the birthday boy in the icon. He's 2 already! He has a lot more hair now.
And title, of course, from Splash.
