November has been a busy month for me preparing to begin year 2 of nursing school. I took my board exam at the beginning of the month and I'm proud to say that I am now a licensed practical nurse. I've achieved my second goal that I set for myself, now 2 more to go! Next is registered nurse and bachelors degree after that.
I was able to take pictures of some of the outfits that I wore, but editing them took me a little while, so I've decided that instead of posting each ootd on its own, I like the idea of making a large post once a month showcasing all of the outfits I wore that month.
These are the outfits that I wore in November:
1) 11/10/14 OOTD to go take my nursing board exam.
Dress, tights, headband, satchel: Forever 21
Boots: Converse
Coat: New Look
Jewelry: off brand, forever 21, Beya
I was feeling a little punky that day, although I'm glad I didn't wear a lot of layers or accessories. They made me take everything off at the testing site and put it in a locker. I guess they think people will write little cheat notes or formulas on their jewelry or something. lol
The test was super nerve wrecking, but I passed! Ready for round 2 next year.
2) OOTD 11/11/14
Dress: Band Of Gypsies
Beret: off brand
Satchel, tights: Forever 21
Shoes: Dollhouse
Rose hair clips: H&M
Jewelry: forever 21/ off brand/ Claire's/ Eve's Addiction
This dress reminds me of Gyaru fashion. Maybe I'll wear it again with my long curly milk tea wig from Gothic Lolita Wigs some other time. When the weather warms up again with simple black heels. And no glasses, of course.
3) OOTD 11/12/14 to go out to dinner with my family.
Jumper: Espresso
Blazer: Forever 21
Shoes: Qpid
Satchel: Forever 21
Rose hair clips: off brand
Jewelry: off brand/ Forever 21/ Beya
The days had been warmer, but at night got a little chilly, so I wore a blazer because the jumpsuit has a halter top. I also felt like wearing my hair in a different style, so I wore one of my clip on ponytails in a bun and side swept bangs.
And suddenly it got really cold in florida
4) Coordinate of the day 11/14/14
Skirt, head bow, heart hair clip: handmade by me
Blouse: Thrifted (Canyon River Blues)
Socks, satchel: Forever 21
Shoes: Dollhouse
Bow hair clips, coat: H&M
Jewelry: handmade by me/ off brand/ Beya
Wig: Gothic Lolita Wigs "Straight Bob"- blond
This was my first time in a very long time wearing lolita out by myself.
This year, I am participating in the Lolita Tips Gift Exchange that is being held through TUMBLR. (I'll post pictures of what I sent and what I receive in December whenever I get my gift). I got my partner info and figured out what I wanted to send her, so I had to go buy a few things and materials. I wanted to wear a really casual coordinate, but the weather was cold and I really wanted to wear my new bear coat. It's so furry and fluffy and awesome. Totally worth the big bucks I payed for it (I'm such a cheapskate. This was about half of what brand lolita clothing costs and yet I still feel awful for paying so much for a coat, but the bear ears! I couldn't say no. No wonder I still don't own any brand. lol). So I ended up coordinating a quick last minute sweet lolita coord.
Going out in lolita by myself again after almost a year felt kind of strange. I had gotten used to it, but since it had been so long, it felt kind of new to me again. I felt a little self conscious at first, but I'm glad I got used to it after a few hours. No one said anything, or looked at me... Or at least I didn't notice. That's a good thing. Except for little children. They always stare, but that's ok. I kind of like the attention I attract. lol
Oh, and this was also the first time I wore this wig since I got it a few months back. Compared to the cheaper one I had before, this one is amazing. The only thing is, I wanted it to be a shorter bob like I used to have, and this bob is a bit long in my opinion. I like how it frames my face, but I originally ordered the "Summer Bob" in blond from GLW (which is shorter in the front) and for some reason I received the "Straight Bob", which they no longer sell on the site. I don't know if it was a mistake by GLW, or if I ordered the wrong style. Still I decided to keep it because I didn't want to go through costumer service and have to send the wig back and all that. don't get me wrong, GLW's costumer service is great, but I just felt like keeping the wig. It's still a bob cut and it's beautiful. I don't want to cut it because it's cut at an angle and I think I'd ruin it if I tried to shorten it.
And then it got warm again.
5) OOTD 11/17/14
Salopette: Denim Co.
Blouse: Forever 21
Shoes: Montreal
Satchel, bow hair clip: Claire's
Socks: off brand
Jewelry: Beya/ Forever 21/ Claire's/ off brand
I wore this to school orientation. I was going for a sweet lolita-inspired look. I love this salopette, but OMG I just realized its sooooooo short. lol like, I knew it was short, but it's shorter than I thought. I hadn't worn it for a while and I wore lolita quite a bit back in October so I must've gotten used to wearing longer skirts. Either way, I felt cute, and that's all that matters. :) I'm glad I always wear bike shorts under skirts, though. No matter the length.
And then it got cold again. Florida, make up your mind already!
6) OOTD 11/18/14
Dress: W118 By Walter Baker
Coat, bow hair clips: H&M
Boots: SODA
Tights: Target
Scarf: Handmade by my grandma
Satchel: Forever 21
Jewelry: Forever 21/off brand/ Eve's Addiction
And now, on to something I've been wanting to incorporate into my blog for some time. I've seen a lot of bloggers do this and I think it's fun and will make me reflect on the positive things that happened the past month and what I liked the most about it. Be it an event, or something I bought or saw or learned or did. Anything! So here it is.
NOVEMBER FAVORITES
This month I bought quite a few things mostly for friends and family rather than for myself. I'm happy to say that I'm done with Christmas gifts early this year. Now just waiting for everything to come in the mail so I can start wrapping.
This year I'll be spending Christmas by myself because my family is going to South America to join family members for the holidays. I won't be going because I have to go to school and work. That leads me to my first favorite:
A mini Christmas tree!
It's only 24" and I made some little Christmas flower ornaments and got the tiny icicle ornaments at Michael's. They're currently having a 50% off christmas sale. Since the tree is so small, regular garland overpowered it, so I found this fuzzy yarn that reminded me of snow, so I draped that around a bit. It's pre-lit in white, and for the tree topper, I found this little red Cardinal bird clip at the dollar store that works perfectly with the theme and color palette. The little bird detects motion and chirps every time you walk past by it. It's a bit annoying, but I'll tried to put the tree where there won't be much motion to detect. Hopefully my cat won't pounce on it when she hears the chirping. So far so good.
Another favorite is my white faux fur bear coat. It was a bit expensive, but so worth it. I have been getting a lot of wear out of it already and I know I'll be wearing it a lot during the cold weather season.
And of course, this month's ultimate favorite was learning that I passed my boards and I'm now a licensed practical nurse!
