Yeah....now it's time to rant on my first "prom" night. I've always called it a "prom" so people will get the basic idea of what it is, but it's actually a banquet, a Junior/Senior banquet. It's our school equilvalent to a prom minus the dancing. Anyway, first I'm going to talk about the preparing and preping for jr./sr. then I'm going to talk about the actual jr./sr. itself.
"Getting ready" for the event.
*whew* A lot of things occurred just for me to get ready for the night! If it wasn't for my friends I probably would have never survived up to that night! First thing on my mind was, of course, the escort (how many times do I have to say it, it was not a date!!!). But yes, I actually did get one! Kuya Dan from church brought me, he has a car! Anyway, next on the list was finding a dress...oooooh boy...it also renewed the reason why I hate getting clothes. Thanks to Lhei Anne, she took me to Lynnhaven mall to go dress hunting. We were there for SEVEN HOURS "dress-hunting". A lot of times when we found something it was either too small, "not the right color", or not a dress period. Sooooo needless to say we spent a long time running in and out of stories trying to find a nice dress. After a while we finally found something that everyone agreed on; and I'm not going to say I disagreed, but it just wasn't the "perfect" dress. You know the perfect dress; it's the dress that, as soon as you (the one who has to wear the dress) see it you just know. However, the dress that everyone agreed on, I couldn't afford it! (It's up to your own imagination to how I felt about this), of course we stayed at the mall for like another hour just for random shopping. Luckily this trip wasn't in vain because I got Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne vol. 3, two cute plushies on sale at the Disney Store (and the right to say that I finally bought something from the Disney Store [which is, pure honesty, the closest I've even gotten to Disney world]), and finally the collector's edition of the Kingdom Hearts 2 strategy guide (of course if you remember clearly in a previous entry I already defeated KH2, why buy the strategy guide now? The mind of an otaku will never make since to people...). I eventually found a dress, a nice black and purple one from DEBS (actually I really wanted black and pink, but this was close enough to me). After getting it tailored and approved I could finally rest until the actual day of jr/sr. Did I mention this was all done a WEEK before jr/sr?
Finally, the day came, May 19, 2006; The Junior/Senior Banquet
Our class seriously, nearly lost it with all the sloppy, last minute preparations. To this day and beyond I probably will cease to understand the miracle that transpired that day, but this year's jr/sr wasn't half-bad! Anyway, backtracking to that point in time: We all were in a real panic just trying to leave the school because Mr. Thorpe wouldn't let us! When we eventually left we had 3 cars going; Jamie's (most of the girls: Jamie, Chassidy, Brittany, me, Ashley, Tierney, and Bekah), Candice's (Candice, Chad, Josh, and Daniel) and Mr. Thorpe had the church van (the supplies, Wendy, John, and Nathaniel). When we all left we decided (other than Mr. Thorpe's group) to take the interstate, problem was that Jamie was following Candice, but then Candice told us she didn't know the way! Another problem was when we almost missed the turn into the interstate, Jamie must have made the sharpest turn I've ever seen in my life; THAT was really fun. The final problem we encountered was on the base, we actually got lost in the base! After like 10 minutes of driving around, asking pedestrians for directions, and almost running over some pedestrian runners; we tried to think of a plan. Out of nowhere, suddenly, Mr. Thorpe comes driving out; so we all started shouting "there's Mr. Thorpe, FOLLOW HIM!!!", and we made it there w/o getting in trouble! Later I asked Wendy if Mr. Thorpe said anything, and she said that he told them "he didn't want to know", lol. After an hour and a half of sweat, blood, and tears of labor, me and the rest of the girls in Jamie's group left early.
Unfortunately when I tried getting to my house, it turned out to be one of the more harder things of the day. My mom and I were in traffic (and this was only a 5-10 minute drive) for 40 minutes!!!!!!!!!!! (Well, technically she was there for the full 40 minutes and I waited at the school for 16 minutes and was in traffic for 24, but thats not the point). Of course that wasn't the end of the trials of that afternoon, I also had to...get my make-up done...-.- (stop laughing)... Also, the worst part of that was, Kuya showed up while I was getting my make-up done!!!! How embarrassing!!!! And to add to the embarrassment, my mom just HAD to get pictures of like EVERYTHING. After about like 15 pictures (out of a 27 film camera) we waited for like 30 or so minutes until Ashley came and my mom took MORE pictures.... Then we finally left.
Now for the exciting part, the (actual) Jr./Sr. entry:
Well, I can safely say this, this year's jr/sr started out rather big...
I thought we were going to get arrested.... No lie....
We were on the interstate and then we got pulled over for speeding, (I think it was 70 in a 55 mph zone...). I was dead scarred, I had every thought from spending jr/sr night in jail to having my own criminal record; I really losing it. When that ordeal was finally over (It literally took FOREVER, the state police are really mean!) Kuya got away with a speeding ticket; but I left feeling guilty about the whole thing! Everyone, including him, keeps telling me to now worry about it...but man, I still feel bad...
Anyway, we got to the base like a half-to-full hour early. We were like the only people there for like 15 minutes until all the seniors showed up, and then waited for another 30 minutes for all the juniors to show up! It was kinda boring. When everyone finally came they wouldn't stop looking at me!!! They were all very surprised at my first time going out into public w/ make-up and curly hair; funny thing is I never stopped getting glances the whole time at the banquet! lol. After everyone showed up, we got to eat; and we basicaly just followed the program: from words, senior prophecies, a senior slideshow, some music (and Mr. Postleweight's surprise performance of "When You Wish Upon a Star"), a devotion, and then we all left. The "actual" jr./sr. wasn't really anything to great, it was more like something of a social time with your friends; but I agree with that thought because these high school years are starting to fly by really quickly, and we never know when we might see our old high school friends after we go our separate ways. Making memories with your friends are what things like this are basically for.
The "after-get-together"
That's what you call an after party when it's not really a party, and a get together that's after a "prom"-ish type thing. Anyway, after jr/sr and some nice photo opps.; we all went out. Me and Kuya Dan didn't stay very long at the after-get-together, but it was still a nice time to me. We all went to the oceanfront and there we saw Keathan! That was a big surprise, and none of us recognized him! (lol, that was funny, he was like no one remembers me!) After walking around and deciding what to do, we all headed to the beach for a little while just to talk and chill. (Some of us were literally "chilling" it was cold....) After that, thats when me and Kuya Dan left. He took me home (with his GPS system, that thing freaks me out) and it was about 12:15 or so when I got back. So thats the basics of that night....the details are for another entry...but thats not the stuff you want to read anyway; its just my ranting and the negatives of the night...besides most of you won't be able to read it anyway, since that entry will be friend's (a.k.a. members of this site who have me as a friend) only. But don't worry, you're seriously not missing anything.
Bye until next update! Hopefully I'll learn to update right away instead of procrastinating until the last minute...
