I wasn't into kpop as much as previously for a few reasons:

1. Kpop was filled with idols that I don't know, that are now a lot younger than me.
2. I went back to old school English music. When I went to the UK, I listened to Britpop (late 90s to early 2000s ie. S club, Spice Girls, Craid David)

I listened to less kpop this year. Well I tried. I'm back to English. Beyonce's my newest favourite artist. I'm now familiarizing myself with her older tracks (which were pretty epic in my opinion - Halo, If I were a boy ( Read more... )

2012 was an interesting year. It was full of (talented) rookies trying to make it in the kpop scene. I have to admit, I wasn't interested and haven't listened to all the songs. I generally stick to the groups that have caught my attention. I don't watch all the clips for the music shows, so I'm sure I've missed a lot of songs.

Everytime Super Junior does a Fly to the Sky cover, I feel a bit happy. Fly to the Sky was probably my first "boyband" that I liked. I got introduced to kpop via BoA . BoA led me to FTTS then I slowly made me accept that Boybands are OK... Well technically my first song is Crazy by Shinhwa, but I didn't care too much about the band.

I don't like rap. But I do get that the flow, rhythm, words can sound really cool.

Kpop's rapping...is more like sing-rapping to me. I first got introduced to it via YG Family's 1TYM  (hip hop group).

WTF is with SMTown's rapping? Usually it doesn't bug me, but Super Junior's latest raps really really annoy me. It's monotonous. More like chanting, ( Read more... )

Yes, I was whining about Super Junior's Sexy Free Single teaser earlier. Then after the release I started to like it a bit.

I was never a fan of T-ara (not my style of music). I only noticed them when Eunjung did a wonderful job with Dream High. I didn't even know how many members were in that group before last week's T-ara controversy came out. I thought there were 4 members...but now it's ~7? Their debut performance - totally in sync. Even more synced than their seniors... The song was refreshing. The choreography looked so fun that I actually tried youtubing the tutorials (there weren't that many at that time). I was sadden that ( Read more... )
