2AM First Tour - Saint O'Clock

Nov 11, 2011 11:18

I am a new fan of 2AM, only because of a spur of the moment purchase of their Saint o’clock CD (which I love).  I still don’t know a lot about them. All I know is that Jo Kwon is the face of 2AM and he’s a joker and dances female groups songs to get laughs (well he does it really well. That boy can MOVE).  I found it hard to find videos of the group performing their songs from the album on YouTube, so when I saw this concert for pre-order, with the autograph as the bribe,  without giving it much of a thought, I just purchased it off of YesAsia.

As the title has indicated, this is 2AM’s first tour. I wasn’t even aware of this tour before I purchased it (well I wasn’t even interested in 2AM until recently). But according to this DVD, it is the final concert of their 10 stops in a span of 1 year…wow that’s incredible and sounds quite hectic. 10 concerts in 1 year?? I feel almost sorry for them, but I’m sure they were aware of it when they planned for this many. I honestly have not heard a few of these songs on this DVD - I only have their Saint o’clock album. They also sang songs from their mini albums.

Songs
The first 5 or so songs were ballads. They sang it while standing quite still in the front… It was a bit depressing a honestly…It was beautiful, but by the 5th song, I was wishing that they had more upbeat songs or if 2PM could pop by and do a cameo. But that wasn’t necessary. They turned it up with some acoustic songs. I loved their covers of girl groups - I haven’t heard of most of these songs, except Miss A’s Bad Girl Good Girl. Then they performed some more upbeat songs. I love their performances of With Or Without U and I Was Wrong (which I heard for the first time and loved it). They sang more ballads from their album (I need to learn the names of these songs). Before I realised it, it was over.  They had a couple of encores, and sang the song I was waiting for “You wouldn’t pick up my call,” which was sang beautifully.

It was live, except for one song. I was arguing with my mother the whole time that 2AM were not lip syncing, as it was unnecessary. She does not believe me and points out that their lips do not match their words - yes they should not match because that member (Seolung) was harmonizing while someone else was singing (Jo Kwon)! There was one song that they lip synced (and did a poor job of matching their lips to the song :P) - Bang (?). They wore miniskirts with tights… lol it was hilarious.  Some songs sounded a bit off (cuz they were tired from dancing), but most of the time, they nailed it. I am glad that they didn’t retouch it (which they could have since this DVD can be edited). The non-studio singing makes me know for sure that they're not lip syncing, and non-perfect singing was minimal anyways, just when they're jumping. The most consistent performers were Jo Kwon and Changmin. There wasn’t a lot of dancing, as to be expected - this is a ballad group. But they did dance for a few numbers. My favourite, being I Was Wrong. They had some backup dancers being their shadow…lol I remember seeing Jinwoon laughing/smiling…when his shadow guy was dancing with him. CUTE!

Speeches
They had a speech or two- I forgot when - but they sounded very sincere and were thankful of the fans for coming. I loved it when Changmin joked, ``We did not sing all the songs from Saint  O’ Clock, but if you want the rest, but the album or find it on the internet” HAHAHA. This guy’s funny…Jinwoon shed a few tears at the end and I was saying “awwwww” the whole time.

Behind the Scenes
This comes with a behind the scenes footage with SUBS ! Yes there are subs with correct grammar in ENGLISH :D :D. I saw them fool around, shiver in cold, practice…again Changmin sticks out the most for me since he seems to be funny. In one of the scenes, he was eating and he was saying something like “I hope I still have my six pack”…then he lifts up his shirt to CHECK HIS SIX PACK!!!! *Swoons* I think he is closely becoming my favourite 2AM member. Another memorable scene was Jinwoon practicing with his guitar…he looked sooo adorable by the table.  As for Seolong - I see him fooling around, dancing and eating. Jo Kwon  - poor guy. He must be cold. I keep seeing him all bundled up. HAHA I loved the fact that he's totally disgusted about how short those miniskirts are. It was also cute to watch them getting nervous because JYP was in attendance.

Photobook
GORGEOUS. This came with the DVD. The shots were really amazing (haha helps that the subject are beautiful creatures).

MVs
I saw 2/4 before : Can't Let You Go Even If I Die and You Wouldn't Answer My Calls. There were two more: I Was Wrong and Like Crazy
My favourite one was I was Wrong because it was a minidrama. After watching these four MVs, I’ve come to the conclusion that Seolong needs to act in more dramas. This guy’s got the acting talent. He was AMAZING in You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls.

Comments
From BTS footage, I know they had solos, which did not make it to the DVD :(  I wish I could see them...time to hunt for fancams I suppose. Another place that could use some room for improvement is mixing the song selection. I know this is a ballad group, but 5 songs in a row is too much in my opinion... They could have injected a piece in between to liven it up a bit. A ballad in between more upbeat songs will also give them a chance to rest in between dance numbers (they looked a bit tired). All in all, their singing was excellent. For this to be their first tour, I think they did a really good job. I especially enjoyed it when they sat down and sang acoustic songs.

I want to attend their concert! It seemed very well done. Sigh. Too bad I live a continent away.
