I liked Death Proof better ultimately, but Planet Terror was a hell of a ride. I'm so pissed they released them separately on dvd. It was the combination of the two, plus the fake trailers, that really made it.
Are you looking for horror recs specifically or any genre? If the first - Dog Soldiers The Descent Dawn of the Dead (1978) The Brood (1979) From Dusk Till Dawn (another Rodriquez/Tarantino collaboration; i really fucking love this movie) The Evil Dead movies + Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness Cube
Remember the scene towards the end where the main character breaks above ground (even though that seems highly unlikely), then frantically drives away? From what I've heard, that's where the theatrical version ends. The unrated version goes further to a more touching, yet darker, ending. I'll be more specific if you want spoilers.

I've seen Legend, but not Sweeney, yet.

Just make sure it's the unrated version, which has a more fitting ending, rather than the focus-groups-are-pussies ending that the other version has.

Also, since you liked Descent, you should check out the director's first (I think) movie, Dog Soldiers, if you haven't seen it.
