i got a couple of surprises about a month back. i was sitting in borders' philosophy section. just for kicks i pulled down "enter the matrix: the philosophy behind the matrix". the first surprise was that the book was surprisingly deep. there were credited authors talking about hegel and bauldrillard and kant and existentialism. being the 20th century philosophy geek that i am, i flipped to the back of the book to see the postmodern and poststructural connections to the book. the last article was actually a "modernist" one--if you can call the author modernist, that is. the author was none other than the crazy marxist: slavoj zizek.
