The main characters hang out and go to school (ha-less so with each passing year; don't ask me how the group who survived to season four not only graduated but managed to include the valedictorian) wearing your typical contemporary teen-TV fashionable street

Mysitic Falls is such an amazing place - it must be the only town with more party days than school days.

That would explain why kids can graduate high school with what in a normal town would be a less-than-50% attendance rate and surely abysmal grades!
