This post is coming to you from a lovely one bedroom condo in New Orleans. My aunt and uncle had extra time share points and since all of their kids are in college and the points need to be used by December 31 Kev and I got to go on a vacation! A vacation that seemed to be doomed from the start but is back on track.

Our flight was at 6:25 on Friday night so Kev and I met at the airport. He didn't get there until 5:45, 40 minutes before the flight. We made the flight but the second leg was delayed. We arrived in New Orleans at 12:15 central time, to discover that the staff at Thrifty (where we had a car reservation) had gone home. We were too exhausted to try to pick another company (the prices vary from $300-500 for the week) so we just took a cab to the hotel. This afternoon we set up a reservation with Enterprise near the hotel. They were scheduled to pick us up at 1:15... they didn't come until 2:00.

Since then things are great! My trusty GPS led us to Home Depot where Kev picked up materials to build a 12-foot-monopod for his camera (try explaining that to airport security) and Walmart for groceries (horay for kitchenettes!). We came back and relaxed for a while and I'm now drinking coffee that is not from a mystery brand pod and Kev is building his contraption. Tomorrow we might go to a Saints game (there were still tickets available when we checked) and later in the week we plan to check out the Abita Brewing Company, plantations, a riverboat, the french quarter, the Delta, and the New Orleans Rum Factory (I'm mostly excited about seing where Turbodog is made). Yes, I will take pictures. They will join photos from Europe and Halloween that are still on my memory card.
