Yesterday I did lots of grading, then went to a local farmer's markets opening day(very fun) the treats I bought: local strawberries, super yum, lily-of-the valley- so sweet, and some fresh tiny donuts to eat there, with my friend and her baby and toddler.
Then I came home and got ready for my middle-little brother. He came over from school(he is a teaching fellow) and I got him to help me haul bricks and stuff. We borrowed our neighbor's wheelbarrow and he said "That's what brothers are for."(helping do heavy work). I was worried T would be too tired, but he, like me, enjoys doing yard/outdoor work after a day of teaching/grading. It is good to get out of the head-space.
T went to pick Clove up at the metro and I cooked. We ate dinner out back and impromptu-ly celebrated May Day. We had pecan-crusted catfish, new baby potatoes, and baby swiss chard. For dessert: strawberry rhubarb crumble. A very seasonable meal. I made a toast, "Fertility for those of us who want it, health for everyone and a peaceful and joyous summer."
Today is(surprise) more grading, and then I will get ready for having a few friends over for a little happy hour thingy on our back deck. Last year we didn't do much yard entertaining, due to being at the pool all the time, so I want to get people over here this month, before mosquitos set in, and we are always pool-bound.
