Has anyone here been on Lithium?
I have a non-bipolar I form of bipolar (probably bipolar NOS, from the looks of it). I get mixed states, hardcore depression, and hypomania. I'm rapid cycling, but not ultra-rapid; my moods last from about 2 weeks to 4 months. I'm on Zoloft and Zyprexa; Zyprexa mostly got rid of my hypomanic/mixed stuff, which I had on seroquel, but my depression won't friggin' quit. It's better than I was off meds, as in I can get out of bed and not be suicidal all the time, but it still sucks. On the bright side, antipsychotics seem to control my borderline symptoms, so I probably wouldn't want to go off Zyprexa altogether.
I'm thinking of asking my new doctor (I moved back home from university and am transferring to a university in my hometown in the fall) if I can just try lithium. Is it a bad idea? Does it sound like it will help? Can anyone recommend something better?
