Intro x-posted to a few other communities
Hi everyone!
I joined this community a while ago (we're talking a few years I think now), did an intro post then promptly took to lurking and commenting when I can. Figure I should probably do another intro post since it's been a while. So who am I?
I'm Nicole. 27, going to be 28 in a few days.
Between the ages of 16 and 23, I was hospitalized at least 20 times. Frankly, I would have to look back at my personal records to figure out the exact number, but I was a regular, that's for sure. I spent almost a full year at a residential treatment facility in Utah.
I'm marking my fifth year this year of managing to stay out of psychiatric wards. I'm kind of stoked about this. It's been a long struggle and my last hospitalization was April 4-15th in 2005 while I was still trying to get through college.
I have an amazing support system in my husband Pete and my family, as well as some super understanding friends.
Diagnosis: Bipolar II with Bipolar I Features. I'm a rapid-cycler like whoa. I have intense bouts of insomnia as well.
I am also going to celebrate ten years of being clean in a few days which is super exciting for me. I am a 'recovered' self-injurer, haven't done so in about four and a half years, but am still dealing with impulse control issues.
Current medications: Levoxyl (for thyroid)
Lunesta (for sleep)
Lamictal (moodstabilizer)
Yasmin (birth control)
And yes, I've been on the full-range of anti-psychotics, anti-anxiety and moodstabilizers.
