The homemade ice cream lab I tried with my Physical Science class
was a huge hit! I think it's a keeper for the next few years! The ice
cream wasn't that bad either! It's a custardy consistency--but with a
little chocolate syrup, it'd be yummy!
I went to vote after school. It was a fairly painless process. I really
wish that the state of Alabama didn't make everybody vote on Constitutional
Amendments that don't have anything to do with our particular area--like the
one for the city of Madison, as an example. I'm not a huge fan of Amendment
1, which gives a big loan from the "Rainy Day Fund". Proration doesn't
scare me, and I think fiscal smartness is more important than providing the
money for schools to have sti assessment, rapid resources, Compass learning,
and all that. We need to get back to the basics in education, anyway. When
I have students in the 7th grade that can barely read--and who can't come to
class with paper and pencils, there's a real problem.
Anyway, I'm not a super blind person. I didn't push the issue of
voting with the accessible machine. I didn't want to go overboard. I was
afraid my friend might not have time to vote herself if it didn't work, and
I decided to just ask her to mark my ballot for me rather than try something
that the poll workers didn't know how to use. I guess I'll be told what a
terrible blind person I am for not making it an issue--but life gets in the
way sometimes of being the blind crusader--and you have to do what you need
to do. I'll try in 2 years, during the governor's elections.
I guess that's about all for this entry--aside from the fact the
doctor diagnosed me with migraine headaches yesterday. I'm not really
comfortable with that diagnosis--because I always thought my headaches were
sinus headaches, but that's how the cookie crumbles, I suppose.
