ROX

I took a "sick" day from school last Friday, and I took Rox to the Vet School. She's just not been acting herself, and before retiring, I wanted to rule out any medical concerns.

I knew she had a skin infection, and we got some different antibiotics and antihistamines for that. Her personality has changed a good bit, too, though, so I wanted to get a complete physical. The Vet seemed to think she might have some thyroid issues. THat was a relief in some ways, because I know how to treat that--and it wouldn't be a terrible thing to have to tell Amanda...plus thyroid med's aren't usually as expensive as liver or kidney medicines.
I got the results today of the liver tests. The Vet said her levels were "borderline" but thinks because of her symptoms, it would be a good idea to start her on some thyroid medication. I have to take Rox back on Tuesday, so I'll get the thyroid med's then, talk more with the Vet, and figure out when to take her back for a test to see how the medicines are affecting the levels of TSH, T4, and one of the other thyroid indicators, Pre-T, I think.

The Vet said that thyroid levels tend to be problematic for spade female Labs, which is just interesting to me. I'm already formulating a list of questions for when I go back on Tuesday. My brain just is having a hard time seeing the connection between the female anatomy and thyroid gland workings.
