I had quite the weekend... It was the only time I've been home this summer: can you say hectic? Hooboy...
Geoff and I got to my house a little after midnight on Friday. Sis was still up, and I was ravenous (no dinner) so I ate and chatted with her for a bit. Geoff fell over dead on the sofa bed. We slept late-ish on Saturday, and then went to meet the new director of weddings at the Inn. She's the third one since we picked this place, and I was nervous. She seems very nice though, and the only reason I didn't meet her before is because she was on maternity leave. She worked under Scott (Mr. Awesome, the guy who was the reason for picking the Inn), so I feel much better now. We finalized everything, and she's even finding us some non-alcoholic champagne! w00t! (Before you scoff, I've had it before. I didn't even know I was drinking non-alcoholic stuff till somebody told me. It's good.) Then Geoff and I went to straighten out everything with the tux place. (Backstory: MW in Florida told grandpa that they didn't provide pants and that he'd have to get his own. ... Yeah. So apparently that's not true, of course they have pants. Which is what I figured... but I wanted to make sure.) Also got the usher's tuxes all fixed, so it's good now. Then haircut and makeup appointment at the mall to get all pretty and whatnot for the shower. I thought my makeup was a little heavy, but there are pictures hiding under the cut, so you can tell me what you think. :-) The shower itself was lots of fun. We played games, and there were lots of nice presents, and tasty food, and people I hadn't seen in a while. Sis did a good job putting it together. Sunday Geoff and I were supposed to go to marriage counseling... but I forgot to set my alarm... I called the pastor in a panic, but he said we'd covered all the important stuff so we didn't have to come. If something comes up between now and the wedding, we can go see him the week before. Geoff and I also went to have lunch with a friend of mine from high school that I haven't seen a while. He just got engaged too! (anyone else feel like everyone is getting married?) It was good to see him though, and he and Geoff got along quite well. I wanted to leave to come back to NY around 4, but Geoff fell asleep on the couch. He slept till about 6, and then we had dinner with my family, and then he fixed the internet, so we didn't leave till about 8. Which wouldn't have been so bad, except for the thing I forgot to mention. While I was at the bridal shower, Geoff was off being awesome! He'd heard an ad on the radio for our local discount furniture store, and decided to go. He got us a king size, 10" thick memory foam mattress! And because that store discounts by 50-85%, he got a $2700 mattress for.... $700! Still expensive, but about what we were planning to spend on one after the wedding. Except we have it now! So I don't have to sleep on the air mattress anymore! *dances about* Anyway, this thing is in the Fit... so I had to sit kind of squished in the backseat the whole way. And since we got back at 1:30, we didn't take it upstairs... so it's still in the Fit... so I still have to sit in the backseat. At least until we acquire someone to assist us in moving it. Hopefully that will happen today or tomorrow. We also got a frame for it, but that didn't fit in the car, my grandparents have it. They'll be bringing it over sometime this week. Anyway, I think this entry is long enough... Picture time!
I was exiled to the kitchen, so Sis put all the leis on me so I'd feel more festive. :-P
Here's me and Sis, and the bow hat she made me. Better pics of the bow hat on facebook if you're interested. She's holding the money bouquet that one of Mom's friends made me. :D
