The one that's a stupid God-damned coincidence, MICHAEL!

Synopsis: Rhetta does nothing but hurt Michael by making the dangerous, foolish and unsupportable assumption that he would actually act on an impulse.

Summary: This is the idiot who just stopped making friends when Weed spoke to him. He's never going to make a move on Jody or Kit.

What really sells it is that she mistakenly believes that Michael will act on an impulse. He is a Patterson and does not thus act. He sits passively and lets life happen. She doesn't know how Martha entered the picture and why it felt right to him:

Talking to yourself doesn't mean you're crazy, lots of people do that!

AND ENOUGH WITH "UH" AND "SIS"! NOBODY REALLY TALKS LIKE THAT AND IT MAKES THE CHARACTERS SOUND STUPID!!!

Mike is at his core a very lazy man. He expects to be allowed to do as little as possible and people are supposed to love him and let him do nothing. She's a windshield and he's a bug because he's expected to be alive.

The windshield is steady and protective. The bug is not paying attention to where he is going and steps in front of a windshield that has places to be and things to do. Not a bad analogy.

He doesn't realize that he just confessed that he had it coming, does he?

I think he prefers the idea that the bug was just flying there minding its own business, when the windshield came along and killed him dead. However, for those of us who know bugs like Mike, he had it coming.

He's the bug that assumed that the car would stay parked because he stopped looking at it.

Michael doesn't get over the belief that relations are stable even if he ignores the girl. After he marries Deanna he proceeds to ignore her. He just finally finds a woman so devoid of personality and self-respect that she thinks being ignored is cute and normal.

This is the imbecile whose vendetta against his sister is based on his being pissed off at having to change how he lives his life. He's the creation of a sluggard so lacking in initiative that she went on record as saying it's perfectly reasonable that she shouldn't have to know a damn thing about her own children because they weren't around when she was five. He can't anticipate action because he doesn't act and assumes that no one else does or should either. When life doesn't work that way, he howls about the cruel words that offend: "did you honestly expect you could just pick up where you left off?"

Lynn said that?!

It was in the same podcast that had her get frustrated with people who call Mike a lousy husband and terrible father.

Also, he isn't actually listening to what she's actually trying to say because she said that he can't do something. He doesn't understand that he looks like someone asking permission to date other people because he just drifts through life without understanding why people treat him like the person his actions say he is.

In that case, Deanna is perfect for Mike. I have to congratulate Lynn for being willing to portray Mike as being so self-centered that he cannot maintain a relationship with two girls who are clearly trying to maintain a relationship with him. Deanna is the best choice for a man who will never care for or care about her.

He is akin to the imbecile squealing about beaus and arrows and the huffy dingbat running her fool mouth about war because Becky has her own ideas. John and Elly's incompetent parenting blighted the world with three mongrel jerks who can't cope with the real world and its demands.

They cope with the world by getting things without having to work for them. $25K advances and jobs that magically come available are what keep the Patterson kids going. John and Elly definitely did prepare them for that kind of world.
