AHAHAHAHA! Oh hilarity. I left all my craziest and most wacked out fic ideas as prompts for
boxathon, not expecting any of them to get picked. Err. Prompt claiming has only started and already people claimed three or four or so of my prompts. CRAAACK. This makes me SO HAPPY! ♥
Now for something I have thought about A LOT the last couple of weeks. But am not any wiser. So mabe writing it down will help me make a decision. At the very least I can count on input from you, oh wise flist.
This summer I have the possiblity to go to Canada for three weeks. All I would have to pay for is the flight. Which is, omgsoawesomecanadayaay.
But I really, really can't decide if I should do it. :( For once I would be spending money (A LOT), instead of earning it through a summer job, like I initially planned to spend my summer. And of course I also wouldn't be in Toronto, or Vancouver or something, but rather in the middle of nowhere.
So I was like, "Well, if I can find a flight that's under 1000 Euros, I'll go." Yeah. Turns out it is IMPOSSIBLE to go to Canada for less than a thousand Euros. Whatever that is about. The cheapest connection I could find was for about 1090 Euros, but that would include 3 stops and 23 hours of travel time. o_O
Anyway. Back story. My bestest and oldest of friends and her grandfather are visiting their relatives in Canada. And they asked me if I would like to come with them. That would be for three weeks in August. And it sounds mabe a bit intrusive, but in fact isn't. Because I know her and I know her grandfather and I know her uncle and his wife in Canada. Because we know each other since we're, like, three years old. And we've spent more hours at each others homes than even McKay could count. So living at her uncles house for three weeks is the least of the things that are holding me back. +g+
And we wanted to go on a vacation together for years now, but it never worked out, so that would be our chance. Also she lives in Stuttgart and we see each other only 3 or 4 times a year nowadays, so would be nice opportunity to catch up.
It's also not like them asking me is completely selfless either. As both my friend and her grandfather have never been on a plane in their life and they also don't speak any English, so they are hiring me more or less as their guide (never mind that I'd be AS CLUELESS AND FREAKED as they'll be).
We would be in a teeny, tiny town, about 150 km from Winnipeg, right at the border (right at the border in Canada speak, so it's still about 50-100 km) to the US. And Winnipeg is really the next big city, no other city anywhere to be seen. I just checked it out in Google maps and just reading the names of the towns in that area makes me want to go. They have a Lorne! And, I kid you not, a Miami! Ahahaha! When I come back to University in the fall I want to have this conversation!
Someone, Everyone, I don't care who: "So what did you do this summer?"
Me: "I was in Miami. MIAMI, CANADA!!!!"
Oh God. Miami, Canada is made of WIN! xD
On the other hand, for around 500 Euros, I could fly to the other Miami, the one in the US. Which isn't nearly as cool as Miami, Canada. But at least Miami, USA has more than ten streets (I just counted them)... Note: I have no intention to go to Miami, USA. This was just for comparison.
So, in conclusion:
pro:
- CANADA!
- only have to pay flight, nothing for housing
- vacation with best friend
con:
- MONEY! SO MUCH MONEY!
- in the middle of nowhere, Canada
- no chance for summer job
Can't. Decide. /o\
