WW JA D?

There's a Jane Austen quote for nearly every situation in life... ;-) (Don't look at me like that; you'd be surprised how true it can be!)

Sent out 3 cover letters/resumes today- the more formal equivalent to saying 'I've got a Master's degree. Now hire me, please!' with or without prostration on the ground and begging.
I hate how writing a cover letter requires you to toot your own horn, so to speak (because naturally, we're all skilled and experienced and confident and will make a valuable addition to the staff, etc...)

"Pride, where there is a real superiority of mind, will always be under good regulation." :-D
Of course, there's also her tongue-in-cheek, "A woman, especially if she should have the misfortune of knowing something, should always conceal it as well as she can."-- but then again, that's for the Marriage market and not the Job market. On the job market, there's a brief line about the selling of human flesh and intellect... Now that's one way of phrasing the job search- prostituting one's education and skills! (I should work for the CDO...) ;-P

austen, job search
