Ok, so today has been a good day overall. I mean, it was always going to be a good day, because it was payday! But, I had the best surprise today when I checked my bank balance. I mentioned before that I've taken on an extra role at school, and of course, one of the perks is a pay rise. The way the boss talked about it, I assumed it was something like £50 a month extra. I checked my bank balance to see I had an extra £300! I nearly fell off my chair, I felt RICH! I've already put £100 extra into savings (so grown up) and entered the Edinburgh half marathon, much to my excitement (April can not come soon enough) But, I have to be careful, I am quick silly when it comes to money, especially when I have an unexpected windfall. So, I'm logging all my spends carefully, and making sure I don't go OTT. This sucks, since my friend from back home showed me this site:
http://www.bobsmade.com/ She got her custom made headphones from here, and they are AMAZING. So of course, I want a pair. So I browsed the site and I found out they make CUSTOM SHOES! Now I totally want some, but at £100 a pop, I think I'll be good (BOO!) and wait til next month. I totally have to make the Roller Derby themed though.
I did another 5 mile run, and did pretty well on pace again, 10:07 min miles. I'm really pushing myself too, I only stopped twice, and I made sure both times were short, and I'm pushing myself to plod up the hill that's just outside my house. Tonight, I made it up 3/4 of the way. Soon, I'll run to the top. I'm scheduled a 7.5 mile run this Sunday-part of me thinks 'BRING IT!" Part of me thinks "Crap." I'll be alright though, I've done it before and I'll carry on doing it, probably til I die. Like I said, I've already entered the Edinburgh half marathon, which is my second halfy ever. When I posted this on facebook, the general consensus was that I was mad and that my body would suffer. I can't understand why people subscribe to this idea that running is bad for your joints and bones-studies show no increased risk of joint problems in runners at all. Meh, who cares.
I also was on a high from yesterday, when I managed two little non running fitness feats. I'm trying to develop what little upper body strength I have, and yesterday I managed ten FULL (not girly knee ones) press-ups in a row. I was very proud (and shaky.) I also managed to row for a full five minutes without stopping, which, considering I usually give up and rest at around two minutes, was a BIG deal. So I'm pretty pleased with myself in general, and looking forward to carrying this positive streak into the weekend.
