He's sent the bed slaves that have been given to him previously out to do other tasks around the palace because they didn't meet his expectations. After hearing this and being prepared for Jensen (bathing, oils, collaring, piercing), Jared is waiting terrified in the king's bed. // However, the king doesn't force himself on Jared and eases Jared into his sexual duties and submission in his bed. Jensen is taken with Jared in a way that he never was with the previous others in his bed. He thinks he's beautiful, smart, and finds his inexperience endearing. It's not long before Jensen is giving Jared lavish gifts (clothes, books, food) and praise. He also allows Jared to go about the castle and pursue whatever activities he wishes. All he expects in return is Jared to be waiting in his bed every night. Others working in the palace either don't know how to react to Jensen's behavior or try to use Jared to get in the king's good graces. Jared is confused, hopeful, and worried the other shoe is going to drop.
