It's Friday and I am so thankful for that. I am hoping against hope that I won't be working a full day today. I am sure there is no reason I can't just say I wanna go home at a certain time since I am on "my" time right now. But, we'll see what happens. If I can depart early enough I'll probably hit Michigan Avenue hard and get some new clothes for next week... and the future.
Rockwell and I did dinner at Pasta Bowl last night. Probably not the wisest choice of meals when one wants to lose a lot of weight in seven days, but I digress. It was just nice to do something since my life suddenly feels work-work-work. I was home and in bed by nine, but I didn't actually go to sleep until well after midnight. I have been discovering full episodes of Mystery Science Theater on YouTube and have gotten hooked watching them while doing all the random surfing I can't do at work right now.
Another achievement for the week, I was able to find someone to pirate the
Ferris Bueller's Day Off soundtrack from. This is an achievement because no official soundtrack for the movie was ever released. It was quite the dilemma for me in the late 80's when I first started getting into music. Luckily, with the advent of the Internet and music sharing other musicphiles like myself seemed to have gotten together and compiled all the tracks and even some film dialog into an unofficial soundtrack. I myself had only ever been able to find about half the tracks before. What a day!
Since Rockwell just got a new car and I wouldn't have felt right even asking to borrow it and putting him in a panic I'll most probably be going to my parents tomorrow via my sister who will be down at IIT taking some test until noonish. She said she could swing by and pick up me and my laundry after that. Of course, this also means she is stuck driving me home Sunday. Her charity doesn't come without a price as she wants me to go to Best Buy with her and help her pick out a new laptop before she goes on a trip next week. I'd told her "Dell Dell Dell Dell" because the ones at Best Buy, in my opinion are always the basic user shit. But, whatever. If I get to do some laundry I won't complain.
Maybe I can get her to take me to Orland Mall while we're at it. I still need some damn shoes!
The real reason I am going to the burbs is for my parents birthdays. Of course, my mother immediately said I didn't need to take them out anywhere. And I have no doubt when the bill comes there will be an argument over who pays. I am not rich, but I am not quite as destitute anymore. I wish they'd just let me do something for them once in a while. The twenty-two mile trip from my apartment to their home is not something.
I am alone this morning. It's nice and quiet here. If that's one of the few positives at the hell hole I just left, it was the solitude in an office away from everyone else. Oh, and they already found someone to replace me. He's a Marine and Mexican, so he'll fit right in with both factions of people there. I guess from the fact the Mafioso met with him the next day after his first interview made him a shoe-in. In twelve months the Mafioso couldn't find time to meet with me once. The bastard.
I'll be curious to hear how a former Marine handles the environment there. Maybe they'll respect him more than some faggot. I have every confidence that he has no idea what he is getting into.
