The Clock Ticking Down

It was a bit cold and gloomy this morning. I had a terrible night's sleep, in part due to the drinking but mostly because Apollo was having vomiting spells the past 24 hours. When he does puke, he gets super weak and can't even walk. It's very stressful seeing him in such a condition, but he'll usually turn around in a few hours and seem to be fine again. It is crazy to think we were about to put him asleep six months ago and he still seems to be carrying on. Only slower and older.

We ran around and did some shopping this morning. Just to feel we'd done something I suppose. Though we did need cat food. After that we laid around most of the day. My attempts to fall asleep on the couch failed. I feel exhausted, but couldn't get myself to nap. I ended up putting on 'A Streetcar Named Desire', which we've never seen. The Sparrow seemed less than interested and I think was on his phone the entire time. I found the movie compelling, though I am not sure in my exhausted state if I really processed it all.

I will say that Marlon Brando was quite good looking at that age. It was almost distracting. I did relate to the family drama and almost narcissistic portrayal of Blanche DuBois. Though I suppose she was potentially mentally ill. That's kind of why I feel I need to rewatch. Was the movie/play portraying her as mentally unstable because she whored herself out? I shouldn't say I didn't nap, I did pass out for about ten minutes, so I am not sure what I missed. It was all very interesting.

The New Orleans setting was also enjoyable, even if it was just a set on a soundstage.

Time flew by this weekend, but it is a short week for me. I am off again this Friday. I hope things are less stressful than last week. It's the end of the month, so time is due. It's also payday, which is much needed. I've got a lot to do, but it's all personal stuff. I keep pushing off those work responsibilities. Sadly, none of our big plans for having the garden and outside stuff done before Memorial Day weekend happened. A combination of a little laziness, rainy weather since April and the lack of ability to get dirt from anywhere other than bagged. Looks like the expansion of the vegetable garden is waiting yet another season.

My mind is really on all the writing I have to do this week. I need to finish off the batch of 4th of July postcards I've been working on and get those mailed before next weekend so they can be addressed and sent off to their recipients before the holiday. I also have a stack of folding cards for the 4th I'd intended to write up. I'll need to do so in the next two weeks if they are going to be useful for this year.

We also have our monthly June postcards, and our 4th of July postcards as well already here. I also ordered an extra "surprise" card for us to send to folks... a funny 1950s looking one themed around the 2024 cicada emergence. They will hopefully arrive in the next couple days so we can send them out this week. I think the Sparrow thinks I am starting to go overboard with two cards each the next two months, but I'm just having a little fun with it all.

I am sure there's more to say, but the day is winding down. It's time to get sullen about starting another work week.
