Heigh Ho!

I haven't dropped off the face of the planet... just haven't been doing anything especially blog-worthy. My application is off to Mt. A and I've met with a guy in admissions who generally seems to agree that I'm literate and could function at university, so with the exception of one last essay that needs revising, the whole getting into college thing should be smooth sailing. Now I just need to get past the music audition and theory entrance assessment. These wouldn't worry me so much if I could actually get an organ lesson sometime before March, but that's a longer and much more frustrating story.

Speaking of organ, the folks at St. Paul's have very kindly begun to slot me in as a regular instead of just a substitute on the organ schedule. I've got about one Sunday a month for the next while, which suits me perfectly. Fortunately, playing in church has finally been demoted from "big deal" to "just another day on the job."

I've been reading John Robbins' Diet for a New America, which I think will finally push me over the threshold of official veganism. We've been eating mostly vegan at home for awhile now, ever since Amber got me interested in it. (In the middle of all the eating disorder stuff Mom kind of jumped on my interest in food and ran with it.) I realize now that I really didn't know enough about either the nutritional side or the ethics of veganism to make a serious go of it then. Even now I have a long list of books to read before I'll be ready to start officially calling myself a vegan, but I can't see myself going back.

And finally... months ago when Liz, James and I had our Indiana Jones movie night, we (in an after-midnight bout of silliness) cracked a few jokes about making a spoof home movie of Louisiana Jones and the TEMPO of Doom. Geddit? Yes, I can hear your exasperated sighs from here. Anyway, since it's January, and Elizabeth apparently has nothing better to do, production is going to start fairly shortly... starring yours truly as Louisiana. I won't inflict the first promo pic of myself vainly trying to make Dad's hat look like a fedora on you, but you can imagine how much fun we've had wasting time together on this.

So... I hope everyone else's January is ticking along happily and productively! I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm greatly looking forward to the inauguration tomorrow. Whenever Peter Mansbridge gets that cheeky grin on his face I know something exciting is about to happen.
