Home and Change

Life has rather settled into a routine lately. This is mostly a good thing, I like predictability of it. I've come a far cry from the days I'd bounce back and forth from state to state looking for something different, for change. Someplace to call home. Home is here now and it's not so much a place (although having my own place does distinctly add ( Read more... )

I hear that many, if not most, YMCAs have heated pools. And they're all over the place. Might be worth taking a look to see if there are any in your area.

Ooooo... looks like theres one ten minutes from here. I'll have then send me a free pass and check it out. I remember going to the YWCA when I was a kid, but never the YMCA. Any idea on what the differences are?

Shiny. I don't really know for sure, but I suspect that the differences between the YMCA and YWCA are mostly historical at this point.

Here are tow of the y's that have saunas and whirlpools. It did not say if the pools were heated. And other thing to check if there are and fitness centers that are affiliated with hospitals in your area. They tend to have heat pools since they generally offer rehab as part of the deal for the hospital helping them with funding or at least loaning their name to them. I would also Ask Jeff her might be able to ask his physical theripist if they know of any heated pools near you.

I looked through the Y's program guide and noticed a couple of "Arthris exercise classes" in heated water! A very good sign and exactly what I'm looking for.

The "diet and exercise" suggestion for airplane-fireworks prep was initially made mostly in jest, but the exercise especially is something I need to get back in the swing of, and it would be nice to have someone to go with, especially to help with the mutual motivation until the routine is entrenched. I could do Palatine in the evenings and/or weekends, though you might want to do your swimming during the day.

Maybe you and I can check out the Y Thursday evening before board games, or something. Email me :)
