LARP stands for Live Action Role Play. People get together, dress in costume and pretend to fight demons, solve a mystery or be some other character. There are better definitions out there.
For shits and giggles the LARPing community is great, but the longer I am around these people the more I realize just how dysfunctional they are. Some of these people spend hundreds to thousands of dollars to pretend to be somebody they are not. The neglected wife, the overweight nerd, the needy former drama student, all comprise a group of people desperate to be somebody other than who they are and it makes no sense. This doesn't apply to all LARPers, so if you LARP and are offended you have to ask why.
I guess I would like to see more effort going into actually improving their lives instead of their being lost in fiction.
