So this last weekend I went down to Mexico on a missions trip. It was really good. I went with this Mega Church called Mariners Church. I was a leader on the trip. There were about 300 people on the trip. Together we built 8 houses and a church. The weird thing about this trip is that while it was a missions trip, it was not missions only to the people that we were building the house for but also to the students. A lot of the students that came were not of Mariners, but rather just random high school kids that came for one reason or another. A lot for community service hours. I have never felt so old before. Some of these kids were only a couple years younger than me and I had to keep telling them to watch their mouths, because they all cussed like sailors. They were all caught up in the opposite sex, which is typical. And they were very disrespectful during worship. I know that a lot of them weren't Christians and most of the Christians were not necessarily mature. Neither was I in high school. Although it does make me wish that I was a better witness when I was in high school. So there was that aspect to the trip. And then there was the really cool part of building the house for our team's family. My four years of Spanish came in very handy. I was able to meet the mom Gloria that we were building the house for along with three of her sons, Christian, Eddy, and Giovanni. I also hung out with some of the other town's kids like Juan and Soule. They were so cool. One thing that I have noticed through working at Paularino and really rang true in Mexico is that the poorer kids are, the better they are. These kids were dirt poor and they were some of the greatest kids that I have ever met. The funnest thing that we did was go down this super steep hill on old boogey boards. My team for building was really cool and we made good time. When we gave the house, we were really stoked. Especially me, cuz I got to do the whole presentation since I was the only one who knew the family and spoke Spanish. Wow, so rewarding. So that was my weekend. It was a real blessing to help them out. And that is it for now. PEACE.
