I was thinking of how to write a review on Rush Hour 3. I already spent time writing a review on
Shrek The Third (2007) so I figured I might as well goes with what works. That's all they really spent time on with Rush Hour 3 anyway.
Rush Hour 3Director:
Brett Ratner First all, if you liked the other Rush Hour movies, this one will probably be worthwhile watching. The film plot line goes as this: Detective James Carter and Inspector Lee are not working together right away. A main villain rounds up some other seedy ( characters to cause some havoc in their world. Carter and Lee go on an adventure (this time to Paris, France) with their side kicks and slap stick, Lee and Carter fight off the baddies, order is restored. Sound familiar?
Give the director's credit, they're sticking with what works. Unfortunately, they are also really missing on other aspects that really worked, especially in the first two films. More plot. Rush Hour 2 highlighted more and more character development and plot. Rush Hour 3 does not continue that trend. Focusing on no plot really draws away from Rush Hour 3. The least imaginable amount of acting talent seems to distract from the story. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are a formidable duo and do work well together. I think that the directors had a really good opportunity to continue building the characters.
However, because of it's Gingerbread Man cookie-cutter formula, the film works, especially for Rush Hour fans. A couple of good action sequences, less-than-stellar CGI, Chris Tucker being stupid, and Chan and Tucker's chemistry, along with the same jokes to keep retards interested, all add up to a impressively (wait for it....) medi-ogre sequel (I'm keeping that in). And even though the "moral of the story" is a non-exsistant ("We've made another Rush Hour movie?"), it's still a trivial.
As was prefaced earlier, if you liked the first two Rush Hour movies, the third in the series will not disappoint you. You already know what you're going to get.
