Tomorrow starts the WCHA Final Five Tournament in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Tomorrow the #7 Seed University of Wisconsin Badgers will play the #6 Seed Michigan Tech University Huskies in the Play-In Game at 7:07 pm.
Friday's semifinals will be:
Your #2 Seed St. Cloud State University Huskies versus the #3 Seed University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux at 2:07 pm.
The winner of the play-in game versus the #1 Seed University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Saturday's games:
losers of both semi-final games to play in the 3rd place game 2:07 pm
winners of both semi-final games to play in the championship game at 7:07 for the Broadmoor Trophy.
This will be interesting for SCSU. UND is, arguably, the hottest team in college hockey right now and the Huskies are a little banged up. Should they fall, and depending on their position in the NCAA Tournament seeding, they may have a SLEW of scratches for Saturday's consolation game.
The easy pick for this weekend is UND. MTU is playing really well right now but, as we all know, no team that plays in the Thursday play-in game has ever won the entire tournament (SCSU lost Saturday after winning on Thursday and Friday last season). Gophers could easily win it, if they try (which seems to have been a problem all season it seems). SCSU has the goalie to do it...but the power-play has sucked recently. UND seems to be peaking at the right time. I think it'll be a SCSU versus UM finale, though, with the Gophers taking home the Broadmoor.
