well, living in a flat, I don't get any council collections. I have to take all of my recycling to the supermarket (and not even the one I shop at). This really isn't a problem and I only do it every other week ... if I can do this, then I don't see why other people in this country can't.
To be honest, it seems like most of society these days is just too damn lazy! But yes, better collection times, for those that have it, would be good! it would also be nice if the council gave money back on council tax if you recycle lots. You'd be surprised at how much less you need to empty the bins if you recycle as much as possible!
(not saying you and your folks are lazy, this was a general statement!)
